Private car service
Private car service is the most controlled FLL to Miami option because it treats the trip as a cross-county handoff. The quote should confirm airline, flight number, terminal, pickup style, vehicle class, passenger count, luggage, wait policy, and final Miami address. That address matters because Brickell, Miami Beach, PortMiami, Coral Gables, and Downtown Miami produce different traffic and curb plans.
Rideshare or taxi
Rideshare and taxi can work for flexible travelers leaving FLL, especially when the final destination is simple and the group is small. The tradeoff is variability: terminal pickup areas, app pricing, available vehicle size, and I-95 traffic can shift the experience. For cruise days and executive arrivals, the uncertainty is often the problem.
Brightline
Brightline can be useful when the destination is near MiamiCentral or a clean final ride from there. FLL lists Brightline airport connector shuttle service from lower-level arrivals stops, and Brightline publishes airport connector terms. It is less direct for Miami Beach hotels, PortMiami with cruise luggage, or residential handoffs away from Downtown Miami.
Tri-Rail
Tri-Rail is a budget-oriented alternative that can work for light luggage and flexible schedules. The FLL airport station requires a complimentary airport shuttle during train operating hours, and then the traveler still needs the right final Miami connection. That is a lot of movement for families, cruise luggage, or time-sensitive arrivals.
Rental car
A rental car makes sense if the traveler needs to keep driving around South Florida after reaching Miami. It is weaker for a one-way transfer because rental time, toll treatment, hotel valet, beach parking, or PortMiami garage planning can outweigh the convenience of having a car.
